ASK expresses deep concern

Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) expresses deep concern for the comment made by an Officer in Charge (OC) at an opinion sharing meeting organized by the Bangladesh Chemist & Druggist association in their Mitford office on 28 June 2009. In that meeting Salauddin Khan, OC of Kotowali Thana, Dhaka, commented “Police will take full responsibility if a mugger is beaten to death”.

We feel deep concern  that this kind of statement from a responsible person of the law enforcing agency may encourage the people not to abide by the law of the country and of course that will create a big set back to the peoples’ right to life and the rule of law of the country.

We strongly believe that every accused has the right to fair trial and even State can not violate this right. ASK desires that every institution of the State will be well aware of their responsibility and thus will perform their duty in due prcess for the protection and promotion of human rights.
