Two Bangladeshi Nationals were shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Masudpur border area of Shibganj upazila, Chapainawabganj. Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) expresses condemnation and deep concern over this incident.
According to media sources, on 1 April 2019, two people, namely Mohd. Milon (17) son of Belal Uddin from Tarapur Morolpara, Shibganj upazila, Chapainawabganj, and Mohd. Senarul (25) of Tarapur Tthutapara, were shot to death by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF). While Milon’s dead body was found in a mango garden near Tarapur Village, Senarul died when his injured body was being taken to the hospital for treatment. Including this incident, till now a total of 10 Bangladeshi nationals died in the hands of BSF this year. In the year 2018, a total of 15 Bangladeshis died in the hands of BSF. ASK noted with deep concern that despite the assurance given by BGB to bring down the border killings to zero, such unwanted incidents continue to occur.
Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) believes that border killings-torture is a clear violation of human rights and international law. Thus, ASK demands the government and administration of both the countries to play a more effective and responsible role to stop such incidents.
