Anisur Rahman of Satkhira alleged to be killed in anti-drug drive

On 29 May 2018, the dead body of alleged drug dealer Anisur Rahman (45) had been found in a field near pacca road of Pislapur village of Kushodanga Union, Koloroa Upazila of Satkhira District. He is the son of the Late Surat Ali Gazi of Pakuria village, Doara Union, Kolaroa Upazila of Satkhira District. On 5 June 2018, ASK conducted a fact-finding of the incident. According to the statements of Nazma Khatun, wife of the deceased, on 28 May at around 9 am Anisur was blind folded and picked up from home in a motor cycle by some police including Khordo police outpost in-charge Sub-inspector Siraj Mahmud, assistant sub-inspector Tarikul Islam. Later on, they denied detaining him. She continued to look for her husband in the police station, DB office and other places. The next day, she came to know about the death of her husband from the phone calls of a local journalist. According to the statement of Police, Anis was killed in a gunfight between two parties of drug-dealers but Nazma claimed that police shot Anisur to death. However, on 8 June Nazma demand the punishment of the perpetrators who killed her husband in a press conference arranged in the Satkhira press club with the cooperation of Human Rights Defenders Forum (HRDF)-Satkhira.
The initial fact-finding of this incident was conducted by HRDF-Satkhira, along with the ASK’s fact-finding team and the forum is continuing to do the follow-up on the incident.
