Remembering Late Khurshid Alam


 

A virtual memorial meeting was organized by Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) on the 4 July 2021 to pay tribute to Late Khurshid Alam, a member of ASK, on his first death anniversary. The virtual event was joined and participated by the Executive Committee Members, General Members, staff of ASK, and family members of Late Khurshid Alam.

ASK Director (Programme) Nina Goswami, moderated the memorial. It started with a short biography prepared by ASK, with the assistance of Rowshon Jahan Parvin, Adilur Rahman Khan, and the deceased’s family members. Shilpi Sharma read the brief biography, which included family details, educational, professional, and several other achievements that Khurshid Alam accomplished and carried out in his life as a human rights activist.

Dr. Hameeda Hossain, one of the founding members of ASK, mentioned that Khurshid Alam was a student of Late Salma Sobhan. In the early years of ASK, he showed keen interest in working and volunteering with the organisation, which he performed till the end of his life. ASK’s Chairperson Nihad Kabir, Executive Director Golam Monowar Kamal, General Secretary Md. Nur Khan, Member of Executive Committee Dr, Faustina Pereira and Md. Asaduzzaman, ASK member Sara Hossain and Rowshan Janan Parvin, Adilur Rahman Khan, and many others were also present at the memorial to pay tribute to the contribution of Khurshid Alam. Family members, including his brother Anis Zaman, wife Mahbuba Hossain, and son Faaiz Osman, also joined the event. The members expressed that the death of Khurshid Alam has caused irreparable damage to the establishment of human rights in the country, they assiduously remembered his dedication to human rights and recollected his admiration and attachment to ASK.
