Human Rights Forum Bangladesh (HRFB) is a coalition of 20 human rights and development organisations working for the promotion and protection of human rights in the country. Started in 2007, the Forum was initially titled Human Rights Forum on Universal Periodic Review (HR-UPR Forum) since its main objective was to collectively prepare the Stakeholders Report to submit under the Universal Periodic Review process of the UN Human Rights Council. Press Conference on Chawkbazar Tragedy
On 24 February 2019, Human Rights Forum Bangladesh (HRFB) has organised a Press Conference at the Dhaka Reporter’s Unity in order to express their deep regret and condolences towards the loss of 67 lives and several other injured persons, due to the fire from the chemical warehouses that spread to the nearby residential units and other buildings in the area at Chawkbazar, Puran Dhaka. Standing in solidarity with all the victims of the Chawkbazar fire tragedy, the forum demands for immediate implementation of the High Court directives that were provided after the Nimtali fire incident further, and in line of such demands for adequate compensation to be provided to the victims’ families, accountability of the concerned authorities, and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice after conducting an independent investigation.
Press Conference of HRFB condemning the massive Arson attacks in Longadu, Rangamati
Human Rights Forum Bangladesh (HRBF), a coalition of 19 rights organizations, demands punishment for the perpetrators responsible for the attack on indigenous people in Longadu, Rangamati and proper rehabilitation of the victims. On 14 June 2017 the Forum has organized a press conference at National Press Club to protest the arson attack on the indigenous community in Longadu of Rangamati district. HRFB Press Conference Demanding Impartial Investigation into the Attacks on the Students, Journalists and Release of Renowned Photographer Shahidul Alam
Human Rights Forum Bangladesh (HRFB), a platform of 20 human rights and development organizations, demanded an independent investigation into the attacks on student demonstrations demanding safe roads. They also demanded the release of renowned photographer Shahidul Alam immediately, lifting the case filed against him and other students detained under ICT Act. The demands were placed in a press conference held on 09 August 2018 at National Press Club.

Universal Periodic Review (UPR)
With the aim of highlighting Bangladesh’s international human rights obligations under treaty bodies, UPR, UN Special Procedures and voluntary pledges, Human Rights Forum Bangladesh (HRFB) organized a round-table discussion on 9 December at the Daily Star Centre on the eve of Human Rights Day, 2018. The discussion primarily focused on Bangladesh’s implementation status of its obligations, while emphasizing the adoption of a comprehensive National Plan of Action to implement all the recommendations received from international bodies.
The Human Rights Forum Bangladesh (HRFB), convened a Stakeholders’ Dialogue with the Government of Bangladesh on the Third Cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), on 02 August 2018 at the CIRDAP Auditorium in Dhaka. HRFB is an alliance of 20 human rights and development organizations, which monitors the process of implementation of the human rights commitments of the Bangladesh Government, at both national and international levels, and is also involved in reporting for different human rights monitoring mechanisms under the United Nations (UN). Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) is currently acting as the Secretariat of HRFB.
