Awareness Raising and Strengthening Organisational Structures
Human Rights Awareness
ASK mobilises youth volunteers to form functional community based human rights theatre groups. These groups use cultural tools including action theatre to ensure live interaction of the community people. They operate through three-tier committee and organise annual theatre festival at the local and national level.
Gender and Social Justice
In collaboration with the partners, ASK facilitates community activism to promote human rights and gender equality. It provides technical support to the community based human rights protection group, community based women’s group and human rights lawyers forum. These groups function through elected central committee who organise human rights conference.
The Unit started its activities in 1998 and the name of the unit was “Popular Theatre” which was changed to Human Rights Awareness (HRA) Unit in 2007
