{"id":1324,"date":"2013-10-21T10:52:13","date_gmt":"2013-10-21T10:52:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/?p=1324"},"modified":"2013-12-11T08:53:59","modified_gmt":"2013-12-11T08:53:59","slug":"children-demands-political-party-representatives","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/2013\/10\/21\/children-demands-political-party-representatives\/","title":{"rendered":"Children Make their Demands to Political Party Representatives Prior to Election Manifesto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>10 October 2013 |<\/strong> Ain o Salish Kendra Child Rights Unit, Save the Children and the Child Rights Governance Assembly (CRGA)\u00a0 facilitated a dialogue between representatives of the major political parties before their election manifestoes are written. The purpose of the event was to highlight child rights issues as a matter of importance, considering it is allocated one of the smallest budgets in all the Government ministries.<\/p>\n<p>With issues such as violence against child domestic workers, only being highlighted when particular cases such as the case of domestic help, Aduri, reaches the headlines. Law&#8217;s need to be implemented and given utmost importance to secure the rights of children in these vulnerable positions.\u00a0 Representatives from four different factions lightly touched on issues of concern.<b> <\/b><\/p>\n<p>The event started with\u00a0 two children reading out their demands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">[vimeo video_id=&#8221;77277750&#8243; width=&#8221;400&#8243; height=&#8221;300&#8243; title=&#8221;Yes&#8221; byline=&#8221;Yes&#8221; portrait=&#8221;Yes&#8221; autoplay=&#8221;No&#8221; loop=&#8221;No&#8221; color=&#8221;ff9933&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>1. We demand political assurance to stop using us for political advantage, we also demand executing regulation protecting this assurance.<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>2. Increase investment and allocation of exclusive local and national budget for deprived people and also demand for appropriate share of the given budget.<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>3. We demand our participation for our development plan. Therefore creating laws to include our participation about the development plan. <\/em><\/strong> <strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>4. Our demand is creating legislation to protect the use of children in the media.<\/em><\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>5. We demand a separate body to protect our rights , in the form of a child ombudsman or the creation of an independent children&#8217;s commission.<\/em><\/strong> <strong><em> <\/em><\/strong><\/h6>\n<h6 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>6. He also said that his party will include the demands of the children which arises in his seminar of the manifestos for the next parliamentary election. He agreed with the other speakers, on the abolition of child labour and the need to form a separate Child commission\u00a0 for evaluating the violation of child rights.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1231\" style=\"width: 320px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1231\" class=\"wp-image-1231  \" alt=\"SK\" src=\"http:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/SK-278x300.jpg\" width=\"310\" height=\"334\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1231\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u201cPolitical parties should include our demands for ensuring child rights and the demands should be met,\u201d Sultana Kamal.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Sultana Kamal concluded the discussion, speaking strongly against the use of children in political rallies, especially the Hefajat rally and how society was responsible for allowing this to happen.
