Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) expresses deep resentment and condemnation over this incident. Side by side, ASK demands exemplary punishment for the responsible members of police through quick and impartial investigation of the incident.<br \/>\nMedia sources reported that according to the written allegation of the housewife, she had been living with her husband and three children in a village of Dapunia union under Sadar upazilla. On the night of 29 August 2019, Rassel Mia, son of Akbar Ali of the same village; Hossain driver of Bhatpara village; Ghontu, son of Siraj Master of Tebunia village; Sanju, son of Kamal of Folia village and Osman, son of Fazlu of Satmail area kidnapped her and raped her for three days keeping her in difference places.<\/p>\n<p>At one stage the housewife managed to tactfully escape and informed her relatives about the incident. They got her admitted to Pabna General Hospital. Later on, police arrested Rassel after the housewife had made a written allegation at the Sadar Thana. However, the following night, instead of filing a case, thana police arranged her marriage with Russel in collaboration with a local group. Before that, the alleged members of police arranged divorce with her former husband. Police have refused their involvement in this case.<\/p>\n<p>Rape is a criminal offence and only the court can conduct its trial in accordance with relevant law. Whether the victim gave her consent or not, such compromise enhances the trend of occurrence of such heinous crimes like rape. Besides, this kind of behaviour from the members of police, who are protectors of the law as well as responsible for giving security to the people and ensuring trial, is very much unacceptable and against the law.
