Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, was set ablaze by few students of the same Madrasa on the direction of the principal, Sirajul Islam, on 6 April allegedly for refusing to withdraw a case filed against the principal for sexually harassing her late the previous month. Few local Awami League leaders were also involved in this incident. She was admitted to the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College in a very serious condition. ASK\u2019s lawyers and field staff immediately on the happening of the incident, contacted Nusrat and her family and expressed their will to provide medical and legal aid to them. After being advised by ASK, Nusrat\u2019s family filed a case against the perpetrator, while she received medical treatment publicly. She lost her battle for life on 10 April, five days after she was set afire — an incident that sparked outrage all over the country. On this incident, ASK arranged for a Human Chain. On 24 April 2019, a representative team of ASK went to Feni where they met Nusrat\u2019s family members, Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Public Prosecutor (PP) and other lawyers to talk about Nusrat\u2019s issue. ASK maintained constant communication with Nusrat\u2019s family. PBI issued a charge sheet against all the perpetrators.
