Bangladesh was reviewed under the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) during the UPR 30 Session in Geneva for the third time on 14 May 2018. During this review, a total of 251 recommendations were received following which, on 20 September 2018, UNHRC adopted an outcome document of this review incorporating the recommendations. The Government of Bangladesh accepted 178 of these recommendations and kept note of the remaining 73. <\/p>\n\r\n\t

    Currently, Bangladesh is at the middle of the UPR 3rd cycle. With the aim of providing technical guidelines to the stakeholders on the methodology of developing a UPR mid-term report, UPR Info, a Geneva based NGO dedicated to strengthening engagement with the Universal Periodic Review of the UN Human Rights Council, organised a virtual \u2018Workshop on Universal Periodic Review\u2019, from 17 to 20 January 2020, in cooperation with Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), National Human Rights Commission Bangladesh (NHRCB) and Human Rights Programme of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP-HRP).
    \nThe workshop covered issues ranging from the basics of UPR, UPR follow-up mechanisms, synergies between UPR, other Human Rights Mechanism and Sustainable Development Goals, and lastly, regarding the mid-term reporting process under UPR. The workshop also provided space for the line ministries, NHRCB staff and members, and representatives from CSOs to share their engagement in the UPR process as well as their activities and role in the implementation of UPR recommendations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
