Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) expresses condemnation over his death and strongly demands a fair and impartial investigation into the cause of his death.<br \/>\nMushtaq Ahmed was arrested by the RAB in May 2020. Afterwards, RAB filed three cases against 11 persons including him under the Digital Security Act at the Ramna police station. While others named in the case were granted bail, Mushtaq Ahmed and cartoonist Kabir Kishore were not granted bail.<\/p>\n<p>The process through which Mushtaq Ahmed and Kabir Kishore were arrested and then detained for a long period of time under the Digital Security Act\u2014which is contrary to the freedom of press and freedom of speech recognised in our Constitution\u2014have given rise to widespread criticism. This law has created a sense of dread among journalists, cultural activists, writers, researchers and general citizens, which has had a detrimental effect on the freedoms of expression and press. Undoubtedly, Mushtaq Ahmed\u2019s death will only deepen this fear. ASK demands to immediately ensure a fair and impartial investigation into Mushtaq Ahmed\u2019s death. Besides, it also urges the immediate release of cartoonist Kabir Kishore. <\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t see?
