The Government of Bangladesh has made multiple commitments at the national and international levels to work toward the advancement of child rights in Bangladesh.
\nIn order to address the rights situation of the children and to ensure proper implementation of these rights in the country, both national and international standards are needed to be respected and followed accordingly. Bangladesh received a number of child rights-focused recommendations under the Universal Periodic Review process in 2018, and many more under the review session of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.<\/p>\n\r\n\t

    \nWith the view to shedding light on the status of implementation of these recommendations, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) as the Secretariat of Child Rights Advocacy Coalition in Bangladesh (CRAC,B), arranged a National Consultation today, on 19 May 2022 at 11 pm, on the ‘Implementation of the Recommendations on Child Rights under Universal Periodic Review and United Nations Convention on Rights of the Child’.
    \nThe opening remarks were placed by Golam Monowar Kamal, Executive Director, ASK. The event was moderated by Rasheda Akter, Child Protection and Gender Justice Adviser- GRH, Plan International Bangladesh. The status of implementation on the rights situation was presented by Maimuna Syed Ahmed, ASK and Focal person, CRAC,B.
    \nTaslima Yasmin, Assistant Professor, Department of Law, University of Dhaka shed light on the development and challenges regarding the legal framework of child rights issues in Bangladesh.
    \nRepresentatives from the member organisations of the coalition, child and youth activists, national and international organisations that work on the advancements rights of the children across Bangladesh attended the event and shared their concerns and suggested ways forward on facilitating the implementation of the recommendations provided. M Rabiul Islam, Assistant Director, National Human Rights Commission, Bangladesh also shared how it is the duty of the state to implement the recommendations and how the Commission has from time to time voiced its own recommendations on improving the situation of children across different sectors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
