Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) expresses grave concern over the brutal, district wide attacks on \u00a0minority communities all over the country and urges all to play an effective role so that it attacks are immediately stopped and prevented from happening again. \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

According to different media reports, there were several recent attacks on the homes shops, livelihoods of religious minorities at Natore, Joypurhat, Satkhira, Gaibandha, Chittagong, Dinajpur districts and also on temples, churches at Thakugaon, Netrokona, Sherpur, Mymensingh districts. Notably, on 5 January 2014 there were also attacks on houses, businesses and temples at Jessore, Dinajpur, Lalmonirhat, Luxmipur districts.<\/p>\n

We have observed that these kind of attacks have taken an increasing toll in recent times. It has also been reported that victims of those attacks are leaving the affected areas due to the apprehension of further attack and lack of adequate security measures.<\/p>\n

We would like to recall that, Article-28 of the Constitution of People\u2019s Republic of Bangladesh ensures that citizens must not be discriminated on the basis of religion or race. ASK observes that the government has not succeeded to bring the situation under control despite of drawing its attention several times. We consider that the government, ruling party and opposition parties-everyone has the responsibility in this regard.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) urges the government to take immediate legal action against the perpetrators and to form a judicial enquiry commission to look into the issue.<\/strong><\/p>\n

ASK also urges to ensure exemplary punishment for the perpetrators to stop the recurrence of such inhuman and heinous attacks on religious minorities.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
