{"id":2640,"date":"2014-04-20T05:22:58","date_gmt":"2014-04-20T05:22:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/?p=2640"},"modified":"2015-03-01T06:39:12","modified_gmt":"2015-03-01T06:39:12","slug":"ask-fact-finding-election-day-violence-sadar-thana-dinajpur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/2014\/04\/20\/ask-fact-finding-election-day-violence-sadar-thana-dinajpur\/","title":{"rendered":"ASK Investigation &#8211; Election Day Violence &#8211; Sadar Thana, Dinajpur"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>See Full Report Below in [English] and [Bengali] Below.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dinajpur-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2658\" alt=\"Dinajpur 3\" src=\"http:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dinajpur-3-300x225.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dinajpur-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dinajpur-3-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dinajpur-3-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dinajpur-3-160x120.jpg 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>On 5 January 2014<\/strong>, the day of the 10<sup>th<\/sup> parliamentary election, incidents of attack on the members of Hindu community and Awami league supporters took place in the Sadar thana of Dinajpur district<b>. <\/b>The BNP and Jamaat activists who boycotted the elections launched a series of violent attacks on those people who had casted their votes in the election.<\/p>\n<p>The perpetrators had launched attack in the <b>Kornai Government Primary School<\/b> (Polling Centre) around 2pm of the day of election.<\/p>\n<p>They vandalised, torched and looted business establishments of the Kornai \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 marketplace. <b>32 shops of the Hindu community and 5 shops of the Muslim \u00a0\u00a0 community who were known as the supporters of Awami League were damaged during the attack.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Houses and shops which belonged to the polling agents who worked for Awami League, were also vandalised.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dnajpur-4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2661\" alt=\"Dnajpur 4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dnajpur-4.jpg\" width=\"4320\" height=\"3240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dnajpur-4.jpg 4320w, https:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dnajpur-4-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dnajpur-4-400x300.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dnajpur-4-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Dnajpur-4-160x120.jpg 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 4320px) 100vw, 4320px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Attacks were also carried out on the five localities adjacent to the Kornai \u00a0 marketplace which are well known as Hindu localities.<\/p>\n<p><b>91 houses belong to Hindu and 6 houses belong to Muslims were damaged by the attack. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>People ran away from their houses and took shelter on other places.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The perpetrators started their violent activities day before the election.
