Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) extends its appreciation to the interim government of Bangladesh for signing the International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions 155, 187 and 190.<\/p>\n

ASK believes this is a historic step forward in advancing labour rights in Bangladesh. In particular, by signing key conventions such as Convention 155 on Occupational Safety and Health, Convention 187 on the Promotional Framework for Occupational Safety and Health and Convention 190 on the Elimination of Violence and Harassment in the World of Work, Bangladesh has strengthened its international commitment to ensuring dignity, safety and fair working conditions for workers.<\/p>\n

ASK also believes that the government will promptly integrate these conventions into national laws and policies, strengthen institutional measures to prevent workplace harassment, violence and accidents and ensure the active participation of trade unions, civil society and relevant stakeholders in the implementation process.<\/p>\n

ASK hopes that the implementation of these conventions will bring meaningful changes in protecting the rights of all working people \u2014 including women, marginalised groups and informal sector workers \u2014 and considers this a positive and hopeful beginning for safeguarding labour rights in Bangladesh.<\/p>\n
