A freedom fighter and school teacher Md. Jinnat Ali was stabbed to death by the stalkers for protesting eve teasing of his daughter and informing the police about it. The incident took place at Barishal. Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) strongly condemns this incident.<\/p>\n
According to different newspaper sources Md. Jinnat Ali warned the stalkers several times not to tease his daughter. As a result one of the stalkers Rupom threatened to kill him. He lodged a G.D. entry with the Kaunia police Station on the matter. It is also reported that the officer in charge of the Police Station, Rafiqul Islam suggested him to lodge another G.D. entry with the Kotowali Police Station as the place of occurrence was beyond the jurisdiction of his station. As the stalkers came to know it, they threatened to kill Jinnat Ali and abduct his daughter, over mobile phone on November 25, 2011.<\/p>\n
The matter which is of graver concern is the alarming rate of such occurrences by the stalkers. According to our statistics prepared on the basis of newspaper reports 20 males and 3 females have been killed only this year for protesting stalking. 32 women committed suicide.<\/p>\n
It appears that if the Government administration were more careful and prompt on the matter, Md. Jinnat Ali did not have to die. We urge the government to set an example by punishing the offenders so that this type of incident does not recur.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
