Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) express grave concern on and demand proper trial of the tragic incident that led to death of six students and severe injury of one in mob beating on suspicion of robbery at Bordeshi village in Aminbazar of Savar on July 18, 2011.<\/p>\n
According to different newspapers, the students were severely beaten being suspected as robbers by a mob of several hundred villagers at Bordeshi village in Aminbazar on the outskirts of the capital, as they went there for a visit at the late night after Shab-e-Barat prayer on July 18, 2011. Six students died and one survived severely injured in the occurrence. The newspapers also reported that all of the dead and injured were students of different institutions. Two cases have been filed with the Savar Police Station regarding the occurrence. Local sand businessman Abdul Malek filed a case regarding the matter and the other was filed by S.I. Anwar Hossain.<\/p>\n
We believe that it is the duty of the law enforcing agencies to ensure the security of property and person of the citizens. Taking advantage of the fact that this duty has not been discharged properly, some people are acting lawlessly. We think, at one side, such incidents of beating people to death are brutal and inhuman; on the other hand it indicates the distrust of common people upon the legal procedure. Such an act of brutality cannot continue in a democratic society.<\/p>\n
We hope that by paying due importance to the case, the concerned authority shall take effective steps to bring the perpetrators to justice through proper investigation and take appropriate measures to stop this trend. At the same time we urge the authority to give topmost priority on restoring people\u2019s faith on rule of law and to operate all the activities accordingly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
