{"id":4668,"date":"2011-02-01T07:21:19","date_gmt":"2011-02-01T07:21:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/?p=4668"},"modified":"2015-06-14T07:22:10","modified_gmt":"2015-06-14T07:22:10","slug":"protest-building-new-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.askbd.org\/ask\/2011\/02\/01\/protest-building-new-airport\/","title":{"rendered":"Protest against building new airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ASK expresses deep concern over the violent incident<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) expresses deep concern and condolence for the death of a police officer and the injury of hundreds of people including journalists at Dhaka-Mawa highway during the violent protest against the plan of building a new airport at Arial Bil.<\/p>\n<p>We obviously do not support such violent protest. We think, any sort of protest should be peaceful. On the other hand, we also think that before taking such ambitious development plan, the Government should consult it with the local people. Though, development and peoples support are supposed to be synonymous, it is noticeable that while taking the development projects, people\u2019s opinion are ignored and development is defined as if it has no relation with the people and their livelihood. As a result, such development projects fail to get support of those who suffer negative impact on their lands and livelihood.<\/p>\n<p>It is expected and which is only natural that an elected Government would be careful enough in this regard. Otherwise we will not be able to see what has happened in Arial bil has ended.
