According to media reports, she was suffering from various aging-associated diseases. \u00a0Novera Ahmed was one of the collaborators of Central Shaheed Minar\u2019s original design and was awarded the Ekushey Padak\u00a0(\u098f\u0995\u09c1\u09b6\u09c7 \u09aa\u09a6\u0995) in 1997, one of the highest civilian awards in\u00a0Bangladesh. She was considered one of the first modern sculptors of Bangladesh.
