Child Rights Advocacy Coalition in Bangladesh is a platform of 10 organizations who are working for upholding child\u2019s rights in Bangladesh. The ten member organizations of the coalition are: ActionAid Bangladesh (AAB), Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF), Child Rights Governance Assembly (CRGA), Education and Development Foundation- educo, National Girl Child Advocacy Forum (NGCAF), Plan International Bangladesh (PIB), Save the Children in Bangladesh (SCiB), Terre des Hommes-Netherlands (TdH-NL) and World Vision Bangladesh (WVB).<\/p>\n

    It carries out advocacy with government of Bangladesh to endorse child rights in line with UNCRC and Universal Periodic Review (UPR) commitments. Currently, coalition is preparing child focused UPRreport on the situation of child rights in Bangladesh for the 3rd<\/sup> cycle of UPR. The report will be submitted to OHCHR in September 2017. The report covers the developments happened in between 2013 to 2017. Coalition has planned to share the report with different stakeholders, government officials, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and children to gather their feedback and to incorporate in the report accordingly. As inception to such sharing, on 17 July 2017, on behalf of Coalition Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), has organized a consultation with a number of children.<\/p>\n

    The objectives of the sharing session includes; to aware children on the child focused UPR report,\u00a0 to collect \u00a0their feedback based on experiences and concerns \u00a0and finally incorporate their respective opinions and recommendations in the report.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

    25 children from Girls Guide Bangladesh, Shorno Kishori, Jaago Foundation, National Children Task Force (NCTF), and Youth for Change, Educo, Khelaghor and Ghashful Child Forum participated in the session and shared their views and recommendations on different issues of child rights. They emphasized that the Children Act 2013 should address all kinds of vulnerable children. They also expressed their concerns on the children living in brothel, orphanage, remote areas, refugee camps and children with disability and urged for special measures for their safe upbringing.<\/p>\n

    Some specific recommendations by the participants:<\/p>\n

      \n
    • GoB should take massive awareness campaign on violence against children;<\/li>\n
    • GoB should ensure free birth registration, heath care and free legal aid for children;<\/li>\n
    • GoB should ensure private sector\u2019s accountability to reduce child labor and monitor private sectors closely;<\/li>\n
    • There should be play ground for children and library in every school;<\/li>\n
    • GoB should assure modernization of in Madrasa education system;<\/li>\n
    • GoB should arrange expansion of help line service in to remote area;<\/li>\n
    • GoB needs take initiatives to stop all kind of\u00a0political influence on children before 18 years;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
