    On 11 September, 2017, Human Rights Defenders\u2019 Forum (HRDF) Jhinaidah in association with Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), organized a human chain demanding to end physical and mental violence against female migrant workers and ensure safe migration. In the event at Moheshpur Thana Mor in Jhinaidah, a number of representatives of migrants worker\u2019s families, civil society and youth groups\u00a0 participated and expressed their concern over the situations of the migrant workers specially the females working in countries like Saudi Arabia and other Middle East States. \u00a0Some of the family members of migrant workers mentioned that after receiving information about the inhuman torture they approached to different human rights organization and managed safe return of the migrant workers. But, woefully still a large number of the workers are leading very inhuman life in abroad.<\/p>\n

    The speakers\u2019 in the human chain mentioned that in recent days a number of female migrant workers of different districts of Bangladesh were rescued from Saudi Arabia and Lebanon in collaboration of HRDF and ASK. They opined that non-government and civil society endeavor will not be enough to end the continuous process of deceiving. They also demanded that Government should create special cell to protect and promote rights of the female migrant workers.<\/p>\n

    Following the human chain, the forum submitted a memorandum to the Upazilla Nirbahi Officer addressing to the Minister of Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare & Overseas Employment. The memorandum emphasizes the issues irregular migration, lack of skill development initiatives for the migrant workers, lack of consular support in country of destination, gender specific violence against women particularly in the countries of Middle East etc.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
