On March 20, 2025, the MAITREE Project reached a meaningful milestone with a Learning Sharing Workshop at the PULSE Bangladesh Training Centre in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, organized by Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) in partnership with UN Women. This reflective gathering, attended by 70 participants including 56 women and 14 men, brought together local officials, community leaders, and members of 23 Maitree Women’s Groups and 6 Umbrella Network male members from both Ukhiya and Teknaf. The workshop celebrated the achievements of the project since its inception in 2020, spotlighting women’s participation in peacebuilding, social cohesion, and strategies for sustaining its positive outcomes. Key government officials and NGO representatives shared insights while participants reflected on their transformative journeys—from once silently enduring domestic violence to now confidently protesting abuse, knowing their legal rights, and actively supporting their families and communities. Many women shared how involvement in the Maitree groups had broadened their horizons, allowing them to step beyond household boundaries, voice their concerns, and contribute to community progress. The event successfully laid the groundwork for future collaborative initiatives in women’s empowerment, gender equality, and community harmony, echoing the powerful message that collective courage and unity foster lasting change. ASK is implementing the project in support of UN Women.
