Harmony in Action: Awareness Sessions Fostering Peace and Social Cohesion

To strengthen the spirit of harmony and resilience, ASK organized a series of 13 monthly Awareness Sessions on Peace Building and Social Cohesion under the Maitree Project, generously supported by UN Women. These sessions were designed to empower newly formed Women Peace Builder Groups within both the Host and Rohingya communities, enhancing their knowledge, confidence, and leadership to actively promote peace and social solidarity. Among these, six sessions were conducted in the Host communities in Palongkhali and Whykong Union with Karuntoli, Baruapara, and Korachipara groups. Additionally, seven sessions took place within the FDMN/ Rohingya camps. The sessions focused on enhancing awareness around peace building principles, social harmony, women’s rights, and available services. Participants expressed growing interest and determination to contribute to peace initiatives, prevent violence against women, and foster women’s leadership in their communities. The program successfully nurtured a network of peace advocates committed to promoting coexistence and safeguarding community well-being.  ASK is implementing the Maitree project in support of UN Women.
