Rally and Human Chain on International Human Rights Day 2025

On 10 December, on the occasion of International Human Rights Day, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) organised a rally and human chain in Dhaka under the theme “Human Rights: Our Everyday Essentials”. Following this theme, ASK put forward 15 key demands. These included ending extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances and torture in custody; stopping illegal arrests; ending false cases; ensuring freedom of peaceful assembly and expression; ensuring professional and accountable conduct of law enforcement agencies; implementing equal rights for women; ensuring the security of religious minorities; safeguarding freedom of arts and culture; ensuring justice for mob violence; transparent reconstitution of the Human Rights Commission and Information Commission; implementation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord; forming an independent, impartial and effective Election Commission; inclusion of experienced non-governmental organisations in election observation; protection of migrant workers; and ensuring the unhindered functioning of human rights organisations. Speakers at the programme called for the immediate adoption of effective measures to establish human rights and ensure the rule of law in the country.
