Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) in partnership with UN Women, is launching a targeted project at Five Universities including Daffodil International University (DIU) to eliminate Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and promote a safer campus environment. Supported by UN Women and funded by the European Union (EU), the project aims to strengthen institutional capacity and transform harmful gender norms across selected tertiary educational institutions in Bangladesh. Part of this project an official project inception meeting was held on 20 May 2026 at the DIU campus to formally engage university leadership and develop an institutional work plan. The inception meeting brought together key leadership from both the University and the implementing organisation ASK including Prof. Dr. S. M. Mahbub Ul Haque Majumdar, Dean of the Faculty of Health & Life Sciences and Chairperson of the Disciplinary Committee and Prof. Dr. Sharifa Sultana, Chairperson of the Complaint Committee to Prevent Sexual Harassment (CCPSH). During the event, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) Executive Director Tahmina Rahman addressed the critical question of whether existing laws provide adequate protection for victims, while ASK Advisor Mubrook Mohammad presented an overview of the project. The event was also attended by University faculty members and students.
