Strengthening Local Partnerships for Women’s and Children’s Protection

A stronger commitment to protecting women and children emerged from a roundtable dialogue held on 27 July 2026 at the Upazila Parishad Conference Room, Habiganj Sadar. The event was supported by Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) where ASED brought together 25 participants (M-19, F-6), including 11 government officials, along with CSO and NGO representatives. Mr. Abdullah-Abu Zaher, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Habiganj Sadar, was present as the chief guest. Ms. Rumana Akhter, Deputy Director, Department of Women Affairs, was present as the special guest.

The discussion focused on improving government–CSO coordination, citizen engagement, accountability and referral support for women and children facing violence or abuse. Participants committed to taking prompt action on cases identified through their respective institutions and referring survivors to ASED for further support. The dialogue strengthened local coordination and reinforced a shared commitment to responsive, participatory and protective community governance.
