Thirty Thousands Voices Raised to Prevent Campus Sexual Harassment

Today’s morning assembly was a bit special for over 30 thousand (32,709) students and teachers as they wore an orange badge to take an oath to prevent campus sexual harassment with the solidarity of the theme of 16 days of activism to prevent gender-based violence. The ceremony took place at Upazila and union level of three project districts: Bogura, Cox’s Bazar and Jamalpur of ASTHA project where students and teachers from a total of 76 schools and 6 Madrassa participated. Through this event students and teachers will be motivated to ensuring the sexual harassment committee and establishing complain box was one of the major objectives of the initiative.

The event was organized by the local partners of ASTHA – Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK), Sabalamby Unnayan Samity (SUS), and Young Power in Social Action (YPSA) with the technical support from implementing partner Ain o Salish Kendra and technical partner United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The project is funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
