In order to live a happy married life, Fatema ran away from Myemansingh with her lover without informing her family and came to Dhaka. After a couple of days, when her husband proposed to take her on a tour, they got on a bus and left for Faridpur. During the journey, they got down in Goyalonda Ferry Dock and her husband left her with some foods in a shop and went out to talk with some people. Being curious about what they may be talking about, she eavesdropped and became aware of the fact that her so-called husband was actually a human-trafficker and was planning to sell her off to another. After understanding the situation she was in, she immediately made a run for the next bus. Through the assistance of a lecturer of a university, who was one of the passengers on the bus, she was taken to the Patrol police in Goyalonda Mour, where they explained in detail of her circumstances. The police noted the information and made a GD (GD No. 692, dated 13/05/2017), accepting Fatema under their custody. Later through the Rajbari Court Fatema was sent to Women and Children Custodian Safe Housing Centre under the Social Welfare Department in Faridpur, and later to a Save Home. In April 2019, when an ASK’s field staff went for a routine visit to the Save Home, she was made aware of the incident, and that is when ASK became aware of the incident. After talking with Fatema, and acquiring a somewhat identifiable address from her, the field staff succeeded in finding out the exact location of Fatema’s grandfather after searching tirelessly, and later she also found out her father’s address as well, who by then, married for a second time already. After talking in detail with the family members of Fatema, locals of the area, Chairman of the area, the field staff could ensure her identity and her address with the locality. After knowing the details, Fatema’s father requested ASK to bring back Fatema to them. Based on this, an Advocate was appointed at Rajbari’s Court and was requested to submit a Production Warrant to be issued for her, following which the Court set 21 May 2019 as the date of the hearing. On that date, ASK’s lawyer and field staff took Fatema’s father to the Rajbari Court along with Faridpur Bar’s Lawyer. The Court handed over Fatema to her father.
