15 Die in ‘Gun Fights’ with Law Enforcement Agencies : ASK Express Grave Concern

ASK expresses grave concern over the rise of ‘extra judicial killings’ by the law enforcement agencies at the recent time.

According to different media reports, 15 people have been killed in ‘gun-fights’ with law enforcement agencies between 1 January 2014 and 27 January 2014.

It has also been reported that those people, who died in gunfights with Police, RAB and members of other law enforcing agencies, were largely the activists of Jamaat-Shibir and were involved in the recent political killing, looting, arson-attacks particularly the communal attacks. ASK considers that perpetrators of such crimes must be punished accordingly following the due process of law. However, ASK considers that no person should be the subjected to extra-judicial punishment or killing under any circumstances.

ASK urges the government to give exemplary punishment for the perpetrators of political killing, looting, arson-attacks as well as communal violence following the due process only.
