Orientation on Preventing Online Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of Children

An orientation session on “Preventing Online Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of Children” was held on 18 August 2026 at the District and Sessions Judge Conference Room with the District Legal Aid Committee. The session was organised under the ‘Speak Up!’ project, implemented by Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) with the support of the European Union and technical assistance from Terre des Hommes Netherlands.

The session focused on online safety for children and young people, legal protection, access to legal assistance for survivors and the coordinated roles of relevant institutions in preventing and responding to online sexual exploitation and abuse.

The session was attended by Mr. Rafiqul Islam, Senior District and Sessions Judge, Dhaka and Chairman of the District Legal Aid Committee, Mr. Saidur Rahman Gazi, Judge, Cyber Tribunal, Mr. Md. Sayem Khan, Senior Assistant Judge and District Legal Aid Officer, Mr. Muntasir Ahmed, Judge of the Nari-O-Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal No. 1 (District Judge), Mr. Mahbubur Rahman, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mr. Subhash Chandra Saha, Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration), Mr. Md. Fakhru Uddin, Senior Jail Superintendent, Keraniganj Central Jail and Ms. Jesmin Chowdhury, Panel Lawyer.

Representatives of civil society organizations (CSOs) under the Speak Up! project, children and young people, and lawyers also actively participated in the session.
