Community Legal Camps Empower Women with Legal Awareness and Access to Justice

In August 2026, three separate community legal camps organised by partner organisations- the Association for Community Development (ACD), Manab Pragati Sangha (MPS) and the Organisation for Women’s Development in Bangladesh (OWDEB) engaged 178 participants (38 male, 140 female) in Rajshahi, Tangail and Chattogram districts. The camps increased awareness of legal rights, legal aid and protection services, while providing guidance on violence, domestic issues and access to justice. Participants learned about available support and referral pathways. Key challenges included limited awareness of legal services and women’s time constraints due to household responsibilities.

These initiatives are being implemented the EngageNow project under the “Nagorikota: Civic Engagement Fund (CEF)” programme with support from the Embassy of Switzerland, Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and European Union (EU).
