Strengthening Community-Based Child Protection and Addressing Online and Offline Sexual Abuse and Exploitation

On 21 September 2026, a delegation from Terre des Hommes (TdH) Netherlands visited the Speak Up Project area in Dhaka, where they participated in two separate discussion sessions with Change Agent Groups, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Community-Based Child Protection Committees (CBCPCs) and local community leaders. During the visit, the delegation discussed the project’s key goals and objectives with the change agents and reiterated their roles and responsibilities. They also listened to the practical challenges faced by change agents in their respective working areas, particularly in identifying cases of sexual abuse and exploitation. In addition, the delegation held constructive discussions with CSO and CBCPC members on various aspects of their work and strategies for strengthening child protection mechanisms at the community level.

Later, a review meeting was held at the Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) office between ASK and its donor organisation, TdH Netherlands. The meeting was attended by Mr Christopher Morris, MEAL Specialist at TdH Netherlands Headquarters, and Tahmina Rahman, Executive Director of ASK.

The visit also included a session organised by ASK with children, young people and members of civil society to identify incidents of sexual abuse and exploitation occurring both online and offline in the project area. During the session, participants shared their field-level experiences and discussed the activities and achievements of the Speak Up Project. Other attendees included Mohammad Nurul Kabir, Adviser – PME & Fundraising, TdH Netherlands; Michael Mondol, Project Coordinator, Speak Up; and ASK staff members.
