Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) expresses deep concern over the clash at Sidhirganj with the police and the agitated workers of ACI Farmaceuticals who were demonstrating for the demand that their jobs should be made permanent and salary must be increased. The clash resulted in the death of one worker.

Several newspapers reported that the workers of ACI Farmaceuticals ware agitating for the last couple of days demanding increase of their salary and making their job permanent. Police used tear gas, rubber bullet and charged batton on the workers which resulted the death of one worker and several others being wounded.

We all are aware that, workers are not given their minimum wage and they are ill treated in many other ways. The factory owners and the Government need to look into these. We would like to recall that, using force by the law enforcing agencies is not the right way to tackle the agitation. We urge everybody to show high level of patience and to seek solution through dialogue and negotiation.
