Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) conveys its deep condolence to the victims of fire on 14th December in the garments industry owned by the Ha-meem Group.

According to newspaper sources, on Tuesday afternoon a devastating fire seized the garments factory of the Ha-meem Group at Ashulia, a place at the vicinity of Dhaka. The fire killed 26 persons and injured many others. Some of the media sources have claimed a higher death toll.

We express our deepest condolence and sympathy to family members of the deceased workers. We demand prompt and adequate compensation be paid to the deceased and injured workers and also arrangement of proper treatment for the wounded. At the same time we strongly call upon the concerned authorities to take effective steps in order to stop repeatation of such pathetic accidents.
