Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) expresses Concern
Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) is cautiously expressing its concern on the comment of the State Minister for Home Affairs as to taking action against the parents of the stalkers.
According to reports published in the dailies, the Minister told the journalists after a meeting of the said ministry on Tuesday that the decision has been taken to take action against the parents of the stalkers. Although it is still not clarified as to what will be the nature of activities taken; we want to remind all concerned one of the fundamental principles of human rights, which says ‘one cannot be punished for the offence committed by another’. It is true, however, that the guardians have a significant role in preventing stalking. But it would be contrary to the principle of rule of law to consider the guardians of the stalkers as ‘liable for punishment’.
Diverse to prevent such a severe problem like stalking is a call of the day, but everything must be done within the legal framework. It should be carefully maintained that the basic principle of rule of law is not affected in taking prompt action to resolve any problem.
