The Court issued a Rule Nisi calling upon the respondents to show cause as to why continuous failure of the respondents to perform their respective functions and legal duties under the provisions of the Bangladesh Labour Law 2006 in particular section 74, 75 and 78 to ensure safety of the workers in ship breaking sector, Shitakunda, Chittagong resulting frequent deaths and injuries of the workers should not be declared to be illegal and without lawful authority as being violative of fundamental rights under Article 27, 31 and 32 of the Constitution and as to why they should not be directed to discharge their legal duties to ensure compliance with Labor Law 2006, in the Ship Breaking sector by taking proper steps. |
