Even though many women and girls have been victims of different forms of gender-based violence, very few of them speak up or seek help. In majority cases, this is because of the social stigma and lack of knowledge about the available services.
In order to give a space where the survivors of gender-based violence can share their issues and get information according to their choice of services, a Court Help Desk was formed by ASTHA project at District Judge Court, Jamalpur.
This Court Help Desk will be operated by a female Legal Support Officer, who will be helping the survivors get information about different multi-sectoral public services and will also refer to the service providers as per the choice of service of the survivors.
In the inauguration ceremony, the District Judge, Mr. Saydur Rahman Khan; Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mohammad Rafiqul Islam; Joint District Judge, Md. Mustafizur Rahman; Executive Director, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), Sheepa Hafiza; Executive Director, Sabalamby Unnayan Samity (SUS), Begum Rokeya, representative from UNFPA were present.
ASTHA project is supported by UNFPA and Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and is being implemented by Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK).
