Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) is stunned at the unprecedented heinous actions of some BDR members which occurred at the BDR Headquarters. We condemn the same in the strictest of terms. The barbarous murders, which did not spare even the women and children, torture, burning of dead bodies, burying in mass graves – all these activities remind us of 71. We pray for the peace of the departed souls and convey our deepest condolences to their families.
We believe that because the Government took to the path of peaceful political solution against the use of force, it has been possible to avoid further violence and excessive loss of lives. As a result of this, like the entire population of the country we also felt relieved. Now the task that lies in front of the government is to identify those who were involved in the killings, torture and plundering and to ensure that they do not go unpunished.
We believe that these incidents were not a threat only to a particular security force, but are a huge threat to democracy and the integrity of the entire nation. In the interests of the nation, and to see that such incidents are not repeated, the government must find the underlying reason behind the incidents. Otherwise we will not be able to save ourselves from remaining accountable to humanity.
At this moment of history, most necessary is to remain calm and deal with the situation with patience. No doubt, the country is now in a deep crisis. It will only be possible to overcome this crisis through solidarity, collective and cooperative efforts of all the people of the country.
