Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) addressed 15 human rights violation cases and collected data related to these incidents. ASK engaged with the survivors and victims to understand the circumstances better and ensure their voices were heard. As part of its regular monitoring activities, ASK documented various forms of human rights violations that occurred across Bangladesh during the month. In one notable case, ASK sent an urgent communication to the relevant authorities concerning an unlawful salish (local arbitration), where two families were illegally confined by local arbitrators for 18 days. ASK urged the authorities to take immediate action to address this injustice. Additionally, ASK communicated with the family members of three individuals who were killed or injured by India’s Border Security Force (BSF). Information regarding the victims and the context of these incidents was gathered to support advocacy and accountability efforts. Based on ASK’s preliminary fact-finding in April, the types and numbers of documented human rights violations are as follows: Violence Against Women: 4 cases, Border Violence: 3 cases, Attacks on Journalists: 2 cases, Death in Custody: 1 case, Death in Jail Custody: 1 case, Death by Law Enforcement Agencies: 1 case, Attack on Religious Minorities: 1 case, Medical Negligence: 2 cases.
