Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) expresses deep concern over the ongoing movement of MPO-enlisted teachers of secondary-level non-government educational institutions and the subsequent incidents arising from it.

For the past several days, MPO-enlisted secondary school teachers have been gathering in Dhaka to press for several logical and legitimate demands, including an increase in house rent allowance and the elimination of salary disparities. However, due to the lack of any satisfactory initiative from the concerned authorities, teachers have continued their work abstention and demonstrations.

Meanwhile, on 12 October 2025, during a peaceful sit-in program of the teachers in front of the National Press Club, police baton-charged and allegedly assaulted several teachers, leaving many injured. Such treatment towards professionals engaged in the noble field of education is both unfortunate and unacceptable.

ASK believes that the teachers’ demands are not merely related to financial or professional rights but are intrinsically linked to the overall improvement of the education system, a dignified working environment, and social recognition. Therefore, ASK urges the government to take effective measures to resolve the current stalemate in the education sector through constructive dialogue with teachers’ representatives and by addressing their legitimate demands.

ASK firmly believes that dialogue and mutual respect are the only means to resolve the ongoing crisis. Prudent and humane action by the government can protect the dignity of the teaching community and restore a stable and respectful environment in the education sector. Additionally, ASK calls for an impartial investigation into the incidents of police violence against the agitating teachers and urges appropriate action against those responsible.

আন্দোলনরত শিক্ষকদের ন্যায্য দাবি মেনে নিয়ে চলমান সংকট অবসানের আহবানঃ আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক)

মাধ্যমিক পর্যায়ের বেসরকারি শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানের এমপিওভুক্ত শিক্ষকদের চলমান আন্দোলন ও এর প্রেক্ষিতে সংঘটিত ঘটনাবলির বিষয়ে উদ্বেগ জানাচ্ছে আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক)।
এমপিওভুক্ত মাধ্যমিক স্কুল শিক্ষকেরা রাজধানী ঢাকায় সমবেত হয়ে বিগত কয়েকদিন বাড়িভাড়া বৃদ্ধি, বেতন বৈষম্য নিরসনসহ বেশ কয়েকটি যৌক্তিক ও ন্যায্য দাবি জানিয়ে আসছেন। কিন্তু সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্তৃপক্ষের পক্ষ থেকে সন্তোষজনক কোনো উদ্যোগ না পাওয়ায় শিক্ষকরা কর্মবিরতি ও সমবেত হয়ে আন্দোলন করে যাচ্ছেন।
এ দিকে, আন্দোলন চলাকালীন গত ১২ অক্টোবর ২০২৫ তারিখে জাতীয় প্রেস ক্লাবের সামনে শিক্ষকদের শান্তিপূর্ণ অবস্থান কর্মসূচির সময় পুলিশের লাঠিচার্জ ও নির্যাতনের ঘটনায় শিক্ষকদের বেশ কয়েকজন আহত হয়েছেন। শিক্ষার সঙ্গে সম্পৃক্ত পেশার মানুষদের প্রতি এমন আচরণ ছিল দুঃখজনক, একইসঙ্গে অগ্রহণযোগ্য।
আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক) মনে করে, শিক্ষকদের দাবি শুধু তাদের আর্থিক বা পেশাগত অধিকার নয়; এটি দেশের শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থার মানোন্নয়ন, মর্যাদাপূর্ণ কর্মপরিবেশ ও সামাজিক স্বীকৃতির সঙ্গেও ওতপ্রোতভাবে জড়িত। তাই আসক সরকারের প্রতি আহবান জানাচ্ছে, শিক্ষকদের প্রতিনিধিদের সঙ্গে গঠনমূলক সংলাপের মাধ্যমে তাদের দাবিগুলোর ইতিবাচক সমাধান করতে এবং শিক্ষা ক্ষেত্রে চলমান অচলাবস্থা নিরসনে কার্যকর উদ্যোগ নেয়ার জন্য।
আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক) বিশ্বাস করে, সংলাপ ও পারস্পরিক সম্মানের ভিত্তিতেই চলমান সংকটের সমাধান সম্ভব। সরকারের বিচক্ষণ ও মানবিক পদক্ষেপই পারে শিক্ষক সমাজের মর্যাদা রক্ষা করতে এবং শিক্ষাঙ্গনে স্থিতিশীল পরিবেশ ফিরিয়ে আনতে। পাশাপাশি, আসক আন্দোলনরত শিক্ষকদের উপর বল প্রয়োগের ঘটনায় দায়ী ব্যক্তিদের বিরুদ্ধে তদন্ত সাপেক্ষে যথাযথ ব্যবস্থ্যা গ্রহনের অনুরোধ জানাচ্ছে।
