Tahmina Rahman

According to the decision of the Executive Committee of Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), distinguished human rights activist Tahmina Rahman assumed the role of Executive Director of the organisation on April 15, 2026.

Tahmina Rahman has made significant contributions for more than three decades at both national and international levels in the fields of human rights, women’s rights, freedom of expression, the right to information and digital rights.

She previously served as the General Secretary of the Executive Committee of Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) from 2019 to 2020. She has also held various roles as a member of ASK’s executive committees. In addition, she served for a long time as the Regional Director of ARTICLE 19 Bangladesh and South Asia, where she played a key role in expanding the organisation’s activities, as well as in policy formulation and implementation. She is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST).

Under her leadership, several important initiatives have been implemented, including strengthening the right to information, advocating for the review and reform of the Digital Security Act and promoting a safe environment for online freedom of expression. Throughout her career, she has led major projects supported by various international organisations.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to human rights, she was awarded the MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) by the United Kingdom in 2017. She also received the prestigious Franco-German Prize in 2016 for her contributions to human rights and the rule of law.

In her academic life, Tahmina Rahman was awarded a research fellowship from the Harvard School of Public Health. She obtained her Master degree in Laws from the University of London and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Dhaka.

Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) expresses its expectation that Tahmina Rahman’s extensive experience, wisdom and leadership will further strengthen the organisation’s efforts in protecting human rights, ensuring justice and advancing democratic values.

আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক) এর নির্বাহী পরিচালক পদে তাহমিনা রহমান এর যোগদান

আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক) এর নির্বাহী পরিষদের সিদ্ধান্ত অনুযায়ী বিশিষ্ট মানবাধিকার কর্মী তাহমিনা রহমান ১৫ এপ্রিল ২০২৬ তারিখে সংস্থাটির নির্বাহী পরিচালক হিসেবে দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করেছেন।

তাহমিনা রহমান মানবাধিকার, নারী অধিকার, মতপ্রকাশের স্বাধীনতা, তথ্যপ্রাপ্তির অধিকার এবং ডিজিটাল অধিকারের ক্ষেত্রে দীর্ঘ তিন দশকেরও বেশি সময় ধরে দেশে ও আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যায়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান রেখে আসছেন।

তিনি আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক)-এর নির্বাহী কমিটির সাধারণ সম্পাদক (২০১৯-২০২০) হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেন। এ ছাড়াও আসক এর বিভিন্ন নির্বাহী কমিটির সদস্য হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেছেন। তিনি আন্তর্জাতিক মানবাধিকার সংগঠন আর্টিকেল -১৯ এর বাংলাদেশ এবং দক্ষিন এশিয়ার (ARTICLE 19- Bangladesh and South Asia) আঞ্চলিক পরিচালক হিসেবে দীর্ঘ সময় সংস্থাটির কার্যক্রমের বিস্তৃতি , নীতি-প্রণয়ন ও বাস্তবায়নে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখেন। তিনি বাংলাদেশ লিগ্যাল এইড এন্ড সার্ভিসেস ট্রাষ্ট (ব্লাস্ট) এর ট্রাষ্টি বোর্ডের অন্যতম সদস্য হিসাবে দায়িত্ব পালন করছেন।

তাহমিনা রহমানের নেতৃত্বে বিভিন্ন সময়ে বাস্তবায়িত প্রকল্পসমূহের মধ্যে রয়েছে তথ্যপ্রাপ্তির অধিকার জোরদারকরণ, ডিজিটাল নিরাপত্তা আইন পর্যালোচনা ও সংস্কারের পক্ষে অ্যাডভোকেসি, এবং অনলাইন মতপ্রকাশের নিরাপদ পরিবেশ তৈরিতে কাজ করা। তিনি দীর্ঘ কর্মময় জীবনে বিভিন্ন আন্তর্জাতিক সংস্থার সহায়তায় গুরুত্বপূর্ণ প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়নে নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছেন।

মানবাধিকার কার্যক্রমে তাঁর অসামান্য অবদানের স্বীকৃতিস্বরূপ তিনি ২০১৭ সালে যুক্তরাজ্যের ‘MBE’(Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) সম্মানে ভূষিত হন। এছাড়াও ২০১৬ সালে মানবাধিকার ও আইনের শাসন প্রতিষ্ঠায় অবদানের জন্য মর্যাদাপূর্ণ ফ্রাঙ্কো – জার্মান প্রাইজ (Franco-German Prize) অর্জন করেন।

শিক্ষাজীবনে তাহমিনা রহমান হার্ভার্ড বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের স্কুল অব পাবলিক হেলথ থেকে গবেষণা ফেলোশিপ অর্জন করেন এবং ইউনিভার্সিটি অব লন্ডন থেকে আইন বিষয়ে স্নাতকোত্তর ডিগ্রি লাভ করেন। তিনি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে আইন বিষয়ে স্নাতক (সন্মান) ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন।

আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক) প্রত্যাশা করছে , তাহমিনা রহমানের সুদীর্ঘ অভিজ্ঞতা, প্রজ্ঞা এবং নেতৃত্ব সংস্থাটির মানবাধিকার সুরক্ষা, ন্যায়বিচার প্রতিষ্ঠা এবং গণতান্ত্রিক মূল্যবোধ শক্তিশালীকরণে গতি সঞ্চার করবে।
