According to reports published in the media, a gang sexual assault took place targeting a woman and her teenage daughter during a robbery at a home in Matamuhuri upazila of Cox’s Bazar. Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) expresses deep concern, strong condemnation and severe outrage over this incident.

According to media reports, the victimized woman’s husband works in Chattogram city. She lives at home with her two daughters, aged 15 and 7. Late on the night of 8 June 2026, a gang of 8 to 10 robbers raided her home. The gang members entered by cutting the window grilles. After looting gold and cash from the wardrobe, they gang-raped the woman and her teenage daughter. Such a barbaric and inhumane incident is not merely a personal tragedy; rather, it raises serious questions about the state’s capacity to ensure the security of women and children and the overall law and order situation.

Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) firmly believes that heinous crimes like sexual violence and gang rape against women are unacceptable under any circumstances. Such incidents deeply shatter citizens’ sense of security and foster an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty in society. Despite recurring incidents of violence against women and children, gaps in crime prevention, prompt investigation and effective accountability persist in many cases.

Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) strongly demands that all perpetrators involved in this incident be swiftly identified, arrested and held accountable under existing laws. At the same time, ASK calls for immediate medical treatment, mental health support, legal assistance and maximum security for the victimized mother and her teenage daughter.

Furthermore, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) believes that effective preventive measures must be taken to guarantee the safety of women and children. It is essential to enhance the capacity of law enforcement agencies, strengthen local-level surveillance and ensure prompt justice free from any form of influence.

Violence against women and children can have no place in a just and democratic state. Therefore, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) urges the state to strictly enforce a zero-tolerance policy to curb such crimes.

গনমাধ্যমে প্রকাশিত সংবাদ থেকে জানা যাচ্ছে, কক্সবাজারের মাতামুহুরী উপজেলায় একটি বাড়ীতে ডাকাতির সময় একজন নারী ও তাঁর কিশোরী কন্যার ওপর সংঘবদ্ধ যৌন সহিংসতার ঘটনা ঘটেছে। এই ঘটনায় আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক) গভীর উদ্বেগ, তীব্র নিন্দা এবং ক্ষোভ প্রকাশ করছে।

সংবাদমাধ্যমে প্রকাশিত তথ্য অনুযায়ী, সহিংসতার শিকার নারীর স্বামী চট্টগ্রাম নগরে চাকরি করেন। ১৫ আর ৭ বছরের দুই মেয়েকে নিয়ে গৃহবধূ নিজ বাড়িতে থাকেন। গত ৮ জুন ২০২৬ তারিখের দিবাগত রাতে ৮ থেকে ১০ সদস্যের ডাকাত দল তাঁর ঘরে হানা দেয়। ঘরের জানালার গ্রিল কেটে ভেতরে প্রবেশ করে ডাকাত দলের সদস্যরা। এরপর ঘরের আলমারি থেকে সোনা, নগদ টাকা লুট করে গৃহবধূ ও তাঁর কিশোরী মেয়েকে দলবদ্ধভাবে ধর্ষণ করা হয়। এ ধরনের বর্বর ও অমানবিক ঘটনা কেবল একটি ব্যক্তিগত ট্র্যাজেডি নয়; বরং এটি রাষ্ট্রীয়ভাবে নারী ও শিশুর নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করার সক্ষমতা এবং আইনশৃঙ্খলা পরিস্থিতির ওপর গুরুতর প্রশ্ন উত্থাপন করে।

আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক) মনে করে, নারীর প্রতি যৌন সহিংসতা ও দলবদ্ধ ধর্ষণের মতো জঘন্য অপরাধ কোনোভাবেই গ্রহণযোগ্য নয়। এমন ঘটনা নাগরিকদের নিরাপত্তাবোধকে গভীরভাবে আঘাত করে এবং সমাজে ভীতি ও অনিশ্চয়তার পরিবেশ তৈরি করে। ধারাবাহিকভাবে নারী ও শিশু নির্যাতনের ঘটনা ঘটলেও অনেক ক্ষেত্রেই অপরাধ প্রতিরোধ, দ্রুত তদন্ত এবং কার্যকর জবাবদিহির ঘাটতি রয়ে যাচ্ছে।

আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক) জোরালোভাবে দাবি জানাচ্ছে, এ ঘটনায় জড়িত সকল অপরাধীকে দ্রুত শনাক্ত করে গ্রেফতার করতে হবে এবং প্রচলিত আইনের আওতায় এনে শাস্তি নিশ্চিত করতে হবে। একই সঙ্গে ভুক্তভোগী মা ও কিশোরীর জন্য জরুরি চিকিৎসা, মানসিক স্বাস্থ্যসেবা, আইনি সহায়তা এবং সর্বোচ্চ নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করার আহ্বান জানানো হচ্ছে।

আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক) আরও মনে করে, নারী ও শিশুর নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করতে প্রতিরোধমূলক কার্যকর ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করতে হবে। আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর সক্ষমতা বৃদ্ধি, স্থানীয় পর্যায়ে নজরদারি জোরদার এবং অপরাধীদের যে কোনো ধরনের প্রভাবমুক্ত রেখে দ্রুত ন্যায় বিচার নিশ্চিত করা জরুরি।

একটি ন্যায়ভিত্তিক ও গণতান্ত্রিক রাষ্ট্রে নারী ও শিশুর প্রতি সহিংসতার কোনো স্থান থাকতে পারে না। তাই এ ধরনের অপরাধ দমনে রাষ্ট্রকে শূন্য সহনশীলতার নীতি কঠোরভাবে অনুসরণ করার আহ্বান জানাচ্ছে আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক)।
