During the period, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) handled 188 registrations, including 159 females and 29 males, with several survivors from marginalised people. Of these cases, 152 were addressed through the Mediation Unit and 36 through the Litigation Unit. The Unit registered 14 new survivors, conducted 10 mediation sessions, followed up with 10 survivors and provided legal advice to 59 individuals. Referred to another organisation 12 survivors. Helpline services were extended to 130 survivors; rapid response support was provided in 7 cases and counselling services were offered to 4 people. Recovered dower and maintenance (including children) of taka 166,340/ (One lac sixty six thousand three hundred and forty taka) through mediation. Divorce (Khola Talaq) was conducted by a Kazi with the consent of both parties with the help of mediation. Resulting in the payment of BDT 85,000 (Eighty-five thousand) as dower money (Kabinnama), past and Iddat maintenance.
At the field level during May, 30 clients (2 male and 28 female) were registered. A total of 16 clients received legal advice and case assessments, while 2 new legal cases were initiated under the HRLF. Additionally, 8 emergency responses were provided and helpline services were extended to 105 survivors at field areas. These activities were implemented under the EngageNow project, part of the Nagorikata: Civic Engagement Fund (CEF) programme, with support from the Embassy of Switzerland and Global Affairs Canada (GAC).
