UN Women along with partners University Grants Commission (UGC), Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK), American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, Daffodil International University, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet launchd a kick-off meeting of the project Ending Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (ESGBV), marking the official collaboration, this afternoon in Dhaka at the Westin Hotel.
The meeting was moderated by Mst. Jesmin Pervin, Director, UGC and attended by Mr. Shahadat Rizvee, Senior Assistant Director, UGC, Mr. Nure Shahrin Islam, Senior Assistant Director, UGC, Professor. Dr Masuma Habib, Professor. Md Mehedi Hasan Khan and Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Chowdhury, Members of UGC, Professor Showkat Ali, Vice-Chancellor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, and representatives from the partner universities, including Professor. Dr. Sharifa Sultana (DIU), Professor. Dr Chowdhury Farhana Juma (SUST), and Ms. Nazia Farhana (AIUB), also participated. The event was further graced by Ms. Navanita Sinha, Deputy Country Representative of UN Women Bangladesh.
Ms. Tahmina Rahman, Executive Director of ASK, expressed her enthusiasm about ASK’s role as an implementing partner of the project. She emphasized that her team is fully committed to the project’s successful implementation and eager to work closely with the partner universities.She further highlighted several innovative initiatives under the project, including a Moot Court Competition and the development of Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).
