Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) is implementing the Engage Now project in six districts through six local partners. As part of the Nagorikata programme, AVAS organised a ‘Narir Adalot – Women’s Court’ in Barishal on 3 September 2026, bringing together 125 women from marginalised and disadvantaged communities with government representatives, legal professionals and police personnel.

The interactive session provided a platform for women to raise concerns and seek information about government services, social safety-net programmes, legal protection and access to justice. Participants received practical guidance on reporting violence against women, filing criminal cases without fees and addressing irregularities in public services. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer also encouraged women to report demands for unauthorised payments, while representatives from the Department of Women Affairs highlighted training opportunities to support women’s economic self-reliance.

These activities are being implemented with support from the Embassy of Switzerland, Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and the European Union (EU).
