Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) yesterday expressed grave concern over the current political violence in the country which is jeopardising people’s lives and security.

ASK  urged political parties to keep in mind that political programmes should not cause people’s deaths or curb basic human rights.
The rights body also urged the government to take maximum precaution so that law enforcers do not take any undemocratic steps.
According to different news reports, 10 people including, law enforcers, died during the strike enforced by the opposition alliance on November 26, said the statement.
“Besides, attacks on law enforcing agencies which are supposed to ensure security, have escalated people’s fear and uncertainty,” it added.
ASK expressed hope that the government and the opposition will find a way to solve the current political impasse through holding dialogues.

দেশের বিভিন্ন স্থানে চলমান রাজনৈতিক সহিংসতায় জনগণের প্রাণহানি ও নিরাপত্তাহীনতায় গভীর উদ্বেগ প্রকাশ করেছে মানবাধিকার সংগঠন আইন ও সালিশ কেন্দ্র (আসক)।

গতকাল বুধবার আসকের নির্বাহী পরিচালক সুলতানা কামাল স্বাক্ষরিত এক বিবৃতিতে বলা হয়, এ ধরনের সহিংসতার কারণে সাধারণ মানুষের জীবনের নিরাপত্তাহীনতা প্রকট হয়ে উঠেছে।

বিবৃতিতে বলা হয়, রাজনৈতিক কর্মসূচি পালন গণতান্ত্রিক অধিকার চর্চার অংশ। কিন্তু কর্মসূচি পালনকালে কোনোভাবেই যাতে জনসাধারণের প্রাণহানি বা মৌলিক অধিকার খর্ব না হয়, সেদিকে বিবেচনা করা রাজনৈতিক দলগুলোর নৈতিক দায়িত্ব। সাম্প্রতিক সহিংসতায় আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর ওপর হামলার ঘটনায় জনসাধারণের মনে চরমভাবে ভীতি ও আতঙ্ক তৈরি হয়েছে বলে উল্লেখ করা হয় বিবৃতিতে। একই সঙ্গে রাষ্ট্রীয় বাহিনী যেন কোনোভাবেই অগণতান্ত্রিক কোনো পন্থা না নেয়, সে জন্য সর্বাত্মক সাবধানতা অবলম্বন করার আহ্বান জানানো হয়।

চলমান সংঘাতময় পরিস্থিতি ও সংকট নিরসনে সরকার ও রাজনৈতিক দলগুলো দ্রুত আলোচনার মাধ্যমে করণীয় ব্যবস্থা নেবে বলে আশা করা হয়  বিবৃতিতে।
