ASK’s Legal Aid Services – September 2025

During this period, the Mediation and Rapid Response Unit of Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) handled a total of 241 registrations, including 139 females and 53 males, with some clients from marginalised and disabled groups 1. Among these, 192 cases were handled by the Mediation Unit, while 49 were processed by the Litigation Unit. A total of 21 new clients were registered, and 18 mediations were conducted. The unit followed up with 228 old clients and provided legal advice to 50 individuals. Help line services were extended to 130 clients, rapid response support was provided in 12 cases, and counseling was offered to 2 clients. Additionally, the money recovery efforts resulted in the collection of BDT 4,11,850 (Four lakh eleven thousand eight hundred and fifty taka) as dower and maintenance for the client and her children. The initiative is part of “EngageNow”, a project implemented by ASK with support from the Embassy of Switzerland and Global Affairs Canada (GAC). The project aims to promote a culture of accountability and human rights by building the capacity of women, men, and other marginalised communities in Bangladesh.
