Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) is seriously concerned at the incident of Rahima Begum being shot at by RAB during an anti-drug operation in Bhairab, Kishoregonj on June 3, 2011.

Different newspapers reported that on Friday, June 3, 2011, a woman named Rahima Begum was shot in the head by RAB during an anti drug operation in Bhairab. While Rahima was shot at by RAB, two cases were filed against her and some other persons.  As usual, it gives rise to an obvious question as to whether it was so grave a situation to open fire while carrying out an anti-drug operation, which should be revealed through investigation. We have repeatedly asserted that extra-judicial activities are contrary to rule of law as well as to the democratic system.

We demand fair investigation to the aforesaid incident and bringing out the findings to the public along with what action has been taken action against the responsible persons. At the same time, we strongly demand that the concerned authority ensure proper treatment of Rahima Begum.
