Subject Matter: Detention of juvenile prisoners in different jails of Bangladesh with the adult prisoners instead of Juvenile Development Centres violating the Children Act 1974 and specific fundamental rights.
Court’s Response: The Court issued a rule nisi upon the Government on July 24, 2007 and directed the authorities to transfer the juveniles to the Juvenile Development Centres from Jails. Court also directed the Government to submit the list of the juveniles detained in different jails.
Current Status: Juveniles have been transferred to the Juvenile Development Centre from jails. The case is pending for final hearing.
