Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) expresses grave concern at condemns the death of Jubaer Ahmed, a student of English Department of Jahangir Nagar University, who was seriously injure after being beaten by the Chhatra League activists.

Different media (online versions) reported that in the afternoon of January 8, 2012 Jubaer Ahmed was picked up by the Chhatra League activists as he came out of graduation (honours) examination hall and was beaten with iron rod and sharp weapon. With severe injury he was admitted to United Hospital in the capital and died on January 9, 2012.

Recently we are observing that the reckless and violent activities of the Chhatra League activists in different Universities have been interrupting the academic atmosphere. We hope that proper steps will be taken to ensure security in different university campuses including Jahangir Nagar University and we also demand exemplary action against the persons responsible.
